Welcome to Belmont Community Sport

The home of inclusive sport in Gloucestershire

Our Mission

Belmont Community Sport has recognised a critical need for an inclusive sports facility for Cheltenham and Gloucestershire. The current Belmont school site has planning approved for these essential upgrades that will give access to over 400 hundred children daily and many more at evenings and weekends. The existing field is unusable for most of the year—a muddy, waterlogged patch with poor drainage and inadequate foundations. Meanwhile, the children learn to cycle on adapted bikes in the school car park!

This isn’t just inconvenient—it blocks access to the many benefits sport offers, especially for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). For these students, engaging in fitness and sport isn’t just about exercise; it’s about building confidence, improving physical and mental health, and feeling included and valued within the community.

Imagine the smiles lighting up their faces as they experience the freedom of cycling on accessible bikes designed just for them—the feel of the handlebars, the gentle hum of the wheels, the joy of moving independently. These sensory experiences are priceless and transformative.

Without proper facilities, many SEND children and their families miss out on these life-changing opportunities—leading to isolation, frustration, and reduced wellbeing.

That’s why our mission at Belmont Community Sport is clear: we want to create an inclusive, all-weather outdoor sports centre that serves the entire community—one that offers exceptional resources and access for students and the SEND community alike.

The project will include exciting facilities like:

A Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA)

Providing a versatile space for football, basketball, netball, and more—perfect for individuals and teams alike.

AN 800M TRAFFIC FREE CYCLING TRAIL

A specifically designed cycle trail for safe, year-round cycling enjoyment by children and adults of all abilities. The trail is fully accessible for wheel chairs and adapted bikes for use by all.

FULLY ACCESSABLE PUMP TRACKS

Our project will have a specially designed pump track that can facilitate disable children who can access the thrill of movement alongside highly skilled ambulate children with a desire for speed and excitement.

We’re building a space that welcomes everyone—a safe, accessible, and inspiring environment where all members of our community can move, grow, and thrive. For BMX enthusiasts to hone their skills and enjoy adrenaline-fuelled fun.
